The Community governance review phase 3:
June 2026
Dear Resident,
Thank-you to all residents who have contributed to the Community Governance Review (CGR) so far.
The second round of the CGR, showed “strong and widespread support for creating a new local governance structure for Willaston.” The report went on to say “…respondents felt that decisions affecting the village… did not have enough input from local residents. Key themes included the need to protect the village’s identity, its green belt land and surrounding countryside.”
Round three of the CGR is now due to commence. The focus will be the boundary of the village. CWAC are proposing changes that bring in parts of Eastham, Hooton and industrial areas.
Willaston Matters proposes a village boundary that is consistent with the historic area of the village and protects Willaston’s unique rural character. We exclude the expansive, semi-industrial areas to the north-east of the village which, if included, would significantly dilute Willaston’s cherished identity.
We hope that the map we have provided is useful when responding the the CGR. Residents may submit this map directly to CWAC as part of their response, or they may refer to the Willaston Matters’ definition of the village.
Your continued engagement is vital, as we move another step closer to safeguarding the future of our village. The QR code below links to the review directly.
Warm Regards,
The Willaston Matters Team
